Making Coconut Cream

Waipawa Kindergarten had the pleasure of welcoming a whānau member who shared the beautiful tradition of making coconut cream with their tamariki. This experience not only enriched their understanding of cultural practices but also connected closely with the principles of Te Whāriki, which emphasizes the importance of whānau participation, cultural heritage, and sensory exploration in early childhood learning. Through this activity, tamariki strengthened their skills in collaboration, communication, and confidence, embodying the holistic and inclusive values that Te Whāriki promotes.
